Let's say we're given the equation x^2 + x + 4 and we want its derivative
All we need to do is multiply the coefficients by the exponents on each number/variable and then subtract the exponent by 1.
So, here our exponents are 2, 1, and 0 respectively.
Following the rules I just set, we end up with 2x + 1 as the derivative.
Note that the 4 goes away because we multiply it by 0, its exponent
